Toccoa River Fly Fishing Guide Trips

Here at Deep South Fly Anglers we pride ourselves on our client-centric approach, listening to your needs and preferences to craft a custom Toccoa River fly fishing experience that exceeds your expectations. Whether you are beginner with no experience at all looking for a day of learning about fly fishing or a seasoned veteran looking to hunt big brown trout on streamers, we have you covered.

Our Guide trips begin at a predetermined location based on the river conditions for that day. Our usual locations are: Tammen Park, Curtis Switch TVA, Horseshoe Bend Park, and other private locations. The Toccoa River conditions can change quickly with water releases from Lake Blue Ridge Dam and or weather. Sometimes we have to change our predetermined meeting location based on these changing river and weather conditions. All of our guided float trips are done in a drift boat skiff.

What to bring for your guide trip?

  • Proper clothing based on weather for the day.

  • Polarized sunglasses can be a big plus. Polarized sunglasses help cut the glare on the water surface.

  • Any food or drinks. We will have a small bag cooler on the boat with waters.

  • A valid Georgia fishing license with trout stamp. It can be purchased online from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

  • All fly fishing gear and flies are included for the trip.

Half-Day Float Trips

Our half day float trips are a popular choice for people that are new to the sport of fly fishing or just want a quick intro into what it is all about. We can cater this trip to be a total introduction to fly fishing if needed. We fish different locations on the Toccoa during our half day trips depending on river conditions. These trips normally last around 4 hours and can be scheduled for morning or afternoons (depending on flows for that day).

Full-Day Float Trips

Our full day float trips give you a greater chance of catching the most fish. We usually fish the same section as our half day trips, but we spend more time in the productive areas of the river.  We fish different locations on the Toccoa during our full day trips depending on river conditions. These trips normally last around 8 hours and are scheduled for a morning start time  (depending on flows for that day). Like our half day trips, we can cater this trip to be a total introduction to fly fishing if needed.

High Water Streamer Float Trips for Trophy Fish

The high water streamer float trips are normally geared toward more experienced fly anglers that know how to cast heavier rods with sinking lines. These trips can be scheduled for a short 3 hour session going after trophy sized brown and rainbow trout on one of the most productive Toccoa River stretches. These trips are flow dependent, meaning they need to be generating (releasing) water from Lake Blue Ridge Dam in order for these trips to be scheduled. Given that information, these trips are scheduled on a shorter notice than our half and full day trips. These trips can be scheduled for longer durations if wanted. Feel free to reach out to me for more information and or get on a contact list for one of these trips.
