Spent the last 3 days on the Cumberland River up in Kentucky. I have not fished the Cumberland since last year. The river has pretty much been unfishable for most of the year because of all the rain and heavy generation. The COE has been sluicing 24/7 at around 2000 cfs which has stained the water really bad. The fishing was a lot slower than what I have been use to up there. I caught a handful of fish everyday, but did not bring any big ones to the boat. Caught a number of 15-16 inch rainbows on various nymph setups. Fishing streamers were unusually slow on this trip. I guess the stained water really have the fish turned off. However it was sure nice to get back up there. I look forward to going back this fall, hopefully the river will be back to the way it was.
