Chattahoochee River Fly Fishing

It is that time of year when the lake is in turnover stage, which has the river looking a little stained and the fishing a little slow. The water gets better the further you get from the dam. We did a float from Buford Dam down to McGinnis Ferry this Saturday and the water did not look good. We were able to bring a few to the boat , but it was slow. We fished Medlock Bridge area today and the water still had the turnover green color, but not as bad. The fishing was still a little slow, but we brought a lot more fish to the boat.  Streamers and larger dark colored nymphs have been the ticket in the turnover stained water.
